Environmentally friendly cleaning services are comparable in price to companies that use chemical cleaners. Good for you, good for workers, good for the planet!

SUSTAINABLE LOS ANGELES:
WHAT CAN I DO TODAY FOR A GREEN L.A.?

... Spread the Word

Please join us for the last Speakeasy of 2006! After this month, Smart Gals will take a gentle hiatus finesse our plans for the Speakeasy series in the years to come, so get it while you can! We are thrilled to end the year with a hopeful evening dedicated to the “greening” of Los Angeles. Global warming, factory farming, increased congestion, toxic air, toxic water—we are all too aware of the problems, but what are the day-to-day solutions? This Speakeasy celebrates social and environmental activists who are making a real contribution to the future of our city: Colin Bogart of the Los Angeles Bike Coalition, Anna Cummins of Bring Your Own, Jose Angel Orozco of The Coffee Cellar, James Rojas of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Katura Reynolds of Tree People. Come mix and mingle with these socially conscious, environmentally motivated movers and shakers.

Amitis Motevalli, a Los Angeles-based artist and activist has designed the commemorative Bookmark for the November Speakeasy.

The evening will begin with a little live music from the always lovely Holly Ramos (www.hollyramos.com).

As always, we will serve piping hot, organic, locally roasted, sustainably farmed coffee from The Coffee Cellar and, yes, there will be a secret, sustainable cocktail!
